Owner // Cory Carr, PT, CWT
Cory has been involved with college, high school and youth athletics in southwest Missouri since he graduated from Missouri State in 1997. He is a former Division I athlete and National High School All-American. He has coached back-to-back State Championship teams for the Springfield Soccer Club and was named Missouri Coach of the Year for 2007. He holds degrees in Biomedical Science and Psychology, a Masters degree in Physical Therapy and is a Certified Weight Trainer. Cory has a passion for the pursuit of knowledge and athletic success and he has a strong belief system that drives him in his own personal success. He believes that each individual has unique talents that were given to them for a purpose and it is our job to develop and use those talents in a positive way. He also believes in the power of a healthy body and soul and that both are essential to fulfilling our purpose and potential in life. As a Physical Therapist he possesses unique skills that when combined with his thirst for knowledge, teaching ability and desire to help people on their quest for health, has lead to the development of The Sport Performance Edge.
Jill Carr, CPA // Co-Owner
Jill is Cory's wife and business partner. Jill graduated Summa Cum Laude from Missouri State University in 1999. Jill is a certified public accountant, thus she handles the business side of things. Cory and Jill have 4 children: Caroline Sundance, Matthew Redford, Luke Zion and Samuel Utah. They strongly believe we are to love and help all people and that is what they strive for in their business. Everyday Jill strives to be a light to others and follow her #1 love - Jesus. Laura Laurie // Floor Manager/PT Aide
In 2010 Laura graduated with a degree in Health and Wellness Promotion at Missouri State University. Laura was a 4 year student athlete on the Missouri State Women's Soccer Team. In High School Laura was on the varsity squad at Ursuline Academy in St.Louis, Missouri all 4 years. During high school she was Two-time first team all-conference pick, two-time all-metro selection, and second-team all state choice. Laura is very passionate about helping others get strong and fit and she's great with coaching others. Laura is married to Shane Laurie and they have 2 boys: Graham and Vincent.
Paige Hill // PT Aide
Paige attended Nixa High School where she was a 4 year All-State swimmer. She continued her swimming career at William Jewell College where she competed in distance freestyle and butterfly events. In her 2 year attendance at Jewell she was an All-Conference athlete. Due to knee and shoulder injuries she ended her swimming career 2 years early and came back to Springfield to attend Missouri State University and is currently pursuing a degree in Exercise and Movement Science. Paige, through personal experience with injuries has gained a passion for the quality of life and has made it her goal to help others improve theirs not only physically but mentally as well.
Erin Mitchem // Clinic Manager // PT AIDE//
Erin Mitchem went to Spokane High School where she was a 5 sport athlete. Erin received All County, All Conference, All District, and All State awards while playing volleyball and led her team to a 3rd place finish in the state tournament. She went on to play volleyball at Missouri Southern State University and helped her team advance to the NCAA tournament and ranking top 25 in the nation. Her junior year she transferred to College of the Ozarks where she received the Conference New Comer of the Year award and 1st team All Conference honors along with a trip to the national tournament. She graduated with a degree in Kinesiology/ Health and Wellness with a minor in Business. When she finished her playing career she joined the coaching staff at C of O as the Student Assistant/ setting coach. After graduating, Erin became an Assistant Coach at the University of Miamiin Miami Florida. She assisted the team as the Hurricanes made their way to the second round of the NCAA National Tournament. In 2013, she became the interim coach at Spokane High School. Her team won conference and district titles and she was named SWCL Coach of the Year.
Erin has coached club volleyball for 10 years helping multiple players get college scholarships. She has a passion for coaching and training others to better themselves on and off the court.
Meg Lowe // Physical Therapist
Meg graduated from Southwest Baptist University with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy and holds a degree in Exercise Science from Western Michigan University. She has a passion for running and was on both the track and field and cross country team in high school. Since then, she has continued to race in obstacle course races, numerous half marathons, marathons and most recently triathlons. Outside of the fitness world, she is very passionate about the environment and protecting our oceans. Her skills and knowledge as a Physical Therapist will allow her to promote healing and wellness and help people live their lives to the fullest.
Maddie Ballard // PT AIDE
Maddie is currently pursuing a degree in Kinesiology/ Health Promotion and Wellness through The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Maddie will later attend Missouri State University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in the Fall of 2019. As a Certified Personal Trainer, specializing in Corrective Exercise; she enjoys the challenges that she faces each day within her job and always looks forward to expanding her knowledge within the realm of Kinesiology and Physical Therapy. In her free time, she enjoys running, and spending time with friends.
Blake McKnight // PT AIDE
Blake graduated from Evangel University with a degree in exercise science. He also played baseball at Evangel and was an All-American his senior year. Blake was drafted by the STL Cardinals and played parts of 5 seasons in their minor league system, finishing his career as a member of the Springfield Cardinals. He also works as an assistant coach for the EU baseball team and gives private pitching and strength training lessons. He enjoys anything related to human health and performance and is passionate about helping others reach their full potential.”
Christina (Tina) Thomas // Physical Therapist
Christina completed her masters at CSU Northridge in 2009 and her doctorate at Northeastern University in 2016. Her husband spent 13 years as an active duty soldier in the US Army, and Therefore she was fortunate to live and work in some of the most beautiful locations in country. From Texas to Hawaii, Colorado to Monterey California, she was grateful for the opportunity to immerse herself in each culture. Professionally, she was a contracted physical therapist For the army at Fort Hood, Texas working in both the hospital and with the 1st Calvary Division. She has also worked in a Variety of outpatient settings, each having unique clientele and treatment modalities. She uses a combination of techniques including the McKenzie method and the selective functional movement screen to diagnose and properly treat patients. Recreationally, Christina is active in the Cross Fit community, and holds a Level 2 training certification. She also loves to be on the trails, whether running biking or hiking, it’s her place to recharge and reconnect with herself and nature. You can often find her preparing for or doing random athletic events including CrossFit competitions, obstacle racing or Ragnar relays. She is very excited about this new adventure, the opportunity to live so close to the mountains, as well as the opportunity to join the Carr physical therapy team in Lehi.
